Encaustic Works

Encaustic painting can be dated back to ancient Greece and Egypt, as early as 100-300 AD. Also known as hot wax painting, encaustic painting uses heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. This encaustic wax is then applied to a surface, usually wood or canvas, using a variety of techniques and tools. These tools, both from the home and those specially made for encaustic, provide the ability to add, subtract, etch, scratch or add texture. What makes encaustic wax painting so versatile is the many possibilities for adding materials to the wax using encaustic collage techniques, layering, or by using an encaustic medium.

Toilet roll cores and paper towel cores are daily residue items that make me
want to give them a second life. Part of my line called "ResidueOver", this
throwaway little item has proven to be versatile and strong.

Sometimes in the process of striving towards one artistic goal,
I find myself on a completely different track, one I never planned.
Depending upon my mood I will either force the process back to my
desires by sheer force of will or I will sit back and enjoy the ride.

"Albine Sushi" is the product of sitting back and enjoying the ride.
