I have discovered an interesting thing about people who like my art. I found out they are quite interested not only in what my art is trying to say, but also in the process of how I make it.
All the things I do, all the things I feel and whatever I experience that ends up somehow represented in my art seems to be of great interest for those who follow me. People want to know of the unfolding story around the process of getting the art made.
Making art is my shot at creating something new that - previous to now -was not of this world. If I can share more of what goes into the personal process of making my art, it allows people peeking into my world to better connect with me. And this connection is vitally important to me if someone is going to spend, not just their money, but also their time — and their lives --with my art.
An Example:A friend was holding one of my smaller paintings in his hands. He was not an “abstract aficionado” and was unable to make sense of the painting. I began to describe each part of this wildly abstracted subject — an EKG waveform line doing double duty as a time line set against an ocean and sky — and it became more and more real to him. To the point where he quietly cried as he understood and internalized my intent. That was one of the deepest connections I have experienced with my art and another human being. I’m not saying I search for that level of connection with all my paintings, but this one was memorable.

Article 1 First "Featured Artist" Show! ..."I was selected to be the "Featured Artist" for the month of February, 2019 and I was wildly excited and scared all at the same time. What if no one came to the opening on February 2nd? Worse, what if EVERYONE came and they all looked disinterested?"
Article 2: It Was A Risk I Took.... As the first article mentioned, I was the Featured Artist with my gallery here in Mexico for the month of February. My show was about transformations (read morehere) and a local online publication requested an article about me. The editor wanted something personal and risky. It seemed, lately, that the more I revealed about my personal life, the more my paintings appealed to the public. So I decided to go for it. The article began with this line:
"Very early on the morning of September 1, 1984, two months before my 30th birthday, I walked out of jail." .......
Article 3: The Madness and Art of Plastic: An Art Exhibition I participated in an important group art exhibition recently. It was important because of its subject matter. Over 25 artists created art utilizing plastic that is clogging our oceans and killing our marine life. My painting, "Adorable Killers", featured hundreds of tetra pak plastic pull tabs. The organizer, Glen Rogers, chose to feature "Adorable Killers" in much of the online publicity for the show. The painting is encaustic, 22" x 22" and is now available for sale through Galeria San Francisco here in SMA.
Article 4: Workshops Workshops Workshops I am amazed at the talent hidden out there in many of my art students. Hidden under layers of self doubt, negative self talk, memories of art teachers in school who said "you better stick to something else...you have no affinity for art." Much of my job as a teacher is to be their cheerleader as they boldly confront these old, false messages and plunge into art making. See for yourself how great they are!
Article 5: Is Robyn's Art Worth The Investment? If you purchased art from me before 2018, you'll want to click below to see if you've gotten your money's worth.....
Article 6: The Reviews Are In! Ever since the days of Yelp and now Trip Advisor began, everything and everybody are getting reviewed. I am no exception. You can see what people have to say about me, if you're interested.
Article 7: A Little Bit Of WooWoo Goes A Long Way Anything having to do with meditation, the pursuit of higher spiritual matters or chanting and channeling, my husband calls "the woowoo". There's nothing wrong with it. He dabbles in it, and the first week I dabbled in it, here's what happened.....
